Port of Scrabster

Land Transport and Travel To and From Port Scrabster
(Scrabster, Caithness, Scotland, UK)

Although Thurso and Scrabster are located right at the northern tip of Scotland, ground transportation services are available to get here.

There are regular buses and trains running to Thurso from Inverness and Wick.

Travel by Bus and Shuttles

There is a regular bus link between Thurso town and Scrabster throughout the day. This is timed to coincide with ferry arrivals and departures. Buses also run to Caithness (Wick Airport) and on to Inverness.

Car Hire and Road Travel

For northerly Scottish towns, Thurso and Scrabster have excellent road access. The main A9 runs all the way from Perth (north of Edinburgh), through Inverness and directly into Thurso and then Scrabster. For those flying to Wick Airport in Caithness, the A882 connects with the A9 to the south of Thurso.

You can hire cars in Thurso town or be met at Scrabster port by a hire car company representative. Cars can be had on demand, but it is best to book online ahead of time so as to avoid disappointment, particularly during the peak summer season.
