Located to the north of the United Kingdom's northernmost town, Scrabster port offers a single, yet important, passenger ferry route to Stromness in the Orkney Isles.

This popular year-round service is operated by Northlink Ferries and there are multiple return sailings every day of the week.


Scrabster to Stromness (Orkneys) Ferry Services


There are three daily return sailings to Stromness from Scrabster on weekdays and two daily sailings on weekends. During the peak season - from the middle of June to the middle of August - there are also three daily sailings on Saturdays to meet the extra tourist demand. Ferries run from morning to night and the crossing time is just 1 hour, 30 minutes.

Stromness port is located very near the town of Stromness in the southeast of the main island of the Outer Orkney Islands and the port provides access to this bustling year-round tourist destination and working town. like Scrabster harbour, Stromness port has undergone a recent expansion and now even boasts a tourist information centre. A minibus is provided to foot passengers on arrival at Stromness port and runs to and from the town of Stromness; a few hundred metres to the north of the port.
