Northlink Ferries operates a year-round service to Stromness, with three daily sailings from Monday to Friday and two daily sailings on Saturdays and Sundays; three daily sailings are operated on Saturdays between peak season dates (mid-June to mid-August). The journey time is 1 hour, 30 minutes.

While facilities in the ferry terminal are limited, facilities aboard the Hamnavoe are excellent and include self-service and a-la-carte restaurants, bars, comfortable lounge areas, en-suite cabins, a cinema and children's play areas.
