Located in the far north of Scotland near the popular town of Thurso, the Port of Scrabster provides vital access to the remote Outer Orkney Islands, which lie off the northeast coast of Scotland. Scrabster port serves about 100,000 people per year and almost half of that number in vehicles.
Owing to recent redevelopment of the harbour and passenger terminal at Scrabster port, bigger and better ships can now access the port.
Facilities are fairly limited, however, with the Peerie Café providing sustenance and a new walkway providing easy access to ferries. There is also a car park on-site, with hourly, daily, and weekly rates.

There is just one route and one passenger ferry service currently operating out of Scrabster, with Northlink Ferries providing the service to Stromness in the Outer Orkneys. Passenger/car ferries make three return journeys per day on weekdays and two per day on weekends.
In addition to the Northlink service to Stromness, there is also a cargo ferry from Scrabster to the Faroe Islands via Faroe Line, which operates throughout the year.
